Good things that can happen after the corona

Many have written about how dangerous corona is. Many have also written about a dystopian future. Of course we are seeing lot of deaths in China, Italy, Iran and Spain. But, this is post is how the world is going to look at post this objectively.

Public spaces are cleaned and disinfected like never before. People may find it not right to dirty a clean space. This means we can have cleaner cities as a consequence of this. Spitting in public would be looked down upon heavily. A behavioural change is on the cards. 

There is reduction in pollution levels and it is good wake up call for all of us. Maybe every year we would declare 1 day for being inside the house like we are doing today. A good tactic to fight pollution and global warming? 

People have started to realise how to be productive working from home. Remote working is going to become the norm in many industries wherever it is possible. People would be working from hometowns rather than moving to big cities permanently. We could see cities getting decongested and real estate prices falling in many areas because of this.

There will be more contract workers since it is easier to hire and fire. This would mean workforce as we see is going to see a massive shift. People will start alternate careers to feed the family during lean periods. 

Agriculture and farming might take off in a big way since people have started to understand that if we can cultivate our own food, money becomes secondary. Since agriculture would be a secondary career and more educated people will join, the quality of output and the infrastructure would become better. Farmer incomes will increase and thereby their suicides would also reduce.

Education is going to go more digital. More people will join the teaching workforce since location is no longer a constraint. To increase their credentials, more research will be done. More research implies more breakthrough in general. We as a society will be better off.

The lack of hospitals and doctors has been the eye opener. While it is no secret about the massive shortage, the real impact is felt now. More number of affordable hospitals and equipment would be bought and set up. More medical colleges will come up and the curriculum of the medical course would also change. More doctors, more nurses, better supporting infra will come up.

More people will opt for insurance. Life insurance and health insurance are going to take off in a big way. The fragility of the human life has been shown. 

The fall of stock markets has been like a bolt if lightning. People have lost their lives savings in these. This will trigger people to spend more and live a better life than saving and dying anyway.

Long term loans will reduce and people are going to take few years of their life at a time.

In these times of lock-downs the role of the police cannot be dismissed. There would be an increase in the law enforcement workforce.

Home delivery is going to be the new norm even for the elderly people who generally prefer to go out and buy.

Physical branches for banks are going reduce drastically and there would be a reduction of workforce there. Digital banking will increase manifold. Digital payments trump physical payments.

Buying behaviour of people is going to change. People are going to buy in bulk rather than buying in small quantities. This means less number of visits to the shops. With home delivery being done having a shop in a prime spot becomes unnecessary. This would mean a reduction in a lot of small shops which would increase the space available for other infrastructure or houses. This is will really reduce the congestion of cities.

Working from and schooling from home means that there is going to be a demand for more rooms in a house. Bigger houses are going to be made. Also, there is going to be more family time.

While these are my thoughts and expectations, only time can tell what is going to happen. Let us wait and watch how this unfolds. Maybe, everything is happening for the overall good of the society.

मनोबुद्धयहंकार चित्तानि नाहं,
न च श्रोत्रजिव्हे न च घ्राणनेत्रे ।
न च व्योम भूमिर्न तेजो न वायुः,

न च प्राणसंज्ञो न वै पंचवायुः,
न वा सप्तधातुः न वा पञ्चकोशः ।
न वाक्पाणिपादं न चोपस्थपायु,

न मे द्वेषरागौ न मे लोभमोहौ,
मदो नैव मे नैव मात्सर्यभावः ।
न धर्मो न चार्थो न कामो न मोक्षः,

न पुण्यं न पापं न सौख्यं न दुःखं,
न मन्त्रो न तीर्थो न वेदा न यज्ञ ।
अहं भोजनं नैव भोज्यं न भोक्ता,

न मे मृत्युशंका न मे जातिभेदः,
पिता नैव मे नैव माता न जन्मः ।
न बन्धुर्न मित्रं गुरूर्नैव शिष्यः,

अहं निर्विकल्पो निराकार रूपो, 
विभुत्वाच सर्वत्र सर्वेन्द्रियाणाम् । 
न चासङत नैव मुक्तिर्न मेयः, 

चिदानन्दरूपः शिवोऽहम् शिवोऽहम् ।। 6 ।।

Meaning:

I am not mind, nor intellect, nor ego, nor the reflections of inner self (citta). 

I am not the five senses. I am beyond that. 

I am not the ether, nor the earth, nor the fire, nor the wind (the five elements). 

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, the auspicious (Śivam), love and pure consciousness.

Neither can I be termed as energy (prāṇa), nor five types of breath (vāyus), 

Nor the seven material essences, nor the five sheaths(pañca-kośa). 

Neither am I the five instruments of elimination, procreation, motion, grasping, or speaking. 

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, the auspicious (Śivam), love and pure consciousness.

I have no hatred or dislike, nor affiliation or liking, nor greed, 

Nor delusion, nor pride or haughtiness, nor feelings of envy or jealousy. 

I have no duty (dharma), nor any money, nor any desire (kāma), nor even liberation (mokṣa). 

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, the auspicious (Śivam), love and pure consciousness.

I have neither merit (virtue), nor demerit (vice). I do not commit sins or good deeds, nor have happiness or sorrow, pain or pleasure. 

I do not need mantras, holy places, scriptures (Vedas), rituals or sacrifices (yajñas). 

I am none of the triad of the observer or one who experiences, the process of observing or experiencing, or any object being observed or experienced. 

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, the auspicious (Śivam), love and pure consciousness.

I do not have fear of death, as I do not have death. 

I have no separation from my true self, no doubt about my existence, nor have I discrimination on the basis of birth. 

I have no father or mother, nor did I have a birth. 

I am not the relative, nor the friend, nor the guru, nor the disciple. I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, the auspicious (Śivam), love and pure consciousness.

I am all pervasive. I am without any attributes, and without any form. 

I have neither attachment to the world, nor to liberation (mukti). 

I have no wishes for anything because I am everything, everywhere, every time, always in equilibrium.

Earth's revolution and the yugas

Myth: Earth returns to its starting position when it completes one revolution around the sun

Truth: There is a small displacement that happens during every revolution. The sun itself is not stationary and moves around another point which could be another star/balck hole/white dwarf or any other point which is not clear.

The wood frog..

Wood frogs tolerate the freezing of their blood and other tissues. As the temperature drops below freezing each winter, the wood frog drifts into a deep hibernation, its breathing and heartbeat grind to a halt, and as much as 65% of the water in its body gradually crystallizes into ice.Urea is accumulated in tissues in preparation for overwintering, and liver glycogen is converted in large quantities to glucose in response to internal ice formation. Both urea and glucose act as "cryoprotectants" to limit the amount of ice that forms and to reduce osmotic shrinkage of cells. It spends two or three months of each winter frozen.When spring finally arrives, the ice melts, heartbeat and breathing return, and the frog continues its life.
